Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodations

Please note that during our online registration process, we have a questionnaire with "mandatory" questions to help our organizers best meet the needs of each of our attendees. During registration, we invite you to list your meeting accommodation requests, accessibility needs and any equipment used we should be aware of in order to make your experience more comfortable. In addition, we also ask about special dietary accommodation requests and other questions of this nature to help us prepare for the conference.

The 2015 USBLN® 18th Annual National Conference & Biz2Biz Expo will feature:

  • Attendance of 600 senior business executives, government and community leaders;
  • Special events and enhanced networking opportunities available throughout the conference;
  • Tiered educational sessions taught by industry leaders, experts from the USBLN® and the Job Accommodation Network (JAN);
  • BLN Affiliate meetings and specialized pre-conference sessions;
  • Sessions on bringing full inclusion to supply chains by integrating certified disability-owned businesses through the USBLN® Disability Supplier Diversity Program®;
  • Entrepreneurs with a disability will learn how to enhance their access to business development opportunities through certification;
  • A new Professional Development track that supports career advancement opportunities for employees with disabilities and helps them "break the chrome ceiling";
  • Opportunities to meet emerging professionals with disabilities and learn about internship and mentoring programs designed to increase the inclusion of students with disabilities;
  • Opportunities to network with corporate Employee Resource Group representatives;
  • 2015 Annual Leadership Awards;

2015 Educational Programming:

  • JAN Academy - Navigating the Disability Employment Process: New this year, the pre-conference session offers participants the opportunity to learn from JAN's experience as the leading source of expert and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues. The JAN Academy is designed for professionals who are either new to the field of disability and employment or who desire to refresh their knowledge about reasonable accommodation issues and the interactive process. Learn disability etiquette strategies, how to implement best hiring and onboarding practices, and how to successfully navigate each step of the interactive accommodations process.
    • JAN ACADEMY SESSION DATE/TIMES:
      The pre-conference workshop will be offered twice:

                9:00 am-12:00 pm
      -OR- 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
    • OUTCOMES: Academy participants will walk away with practical disability employment strategies for advancing beyond compliance and towards a more competitive advantage. Participants will receive HRCI CEU Credits as well as a Certificate of Completion.
    • FEE: $65.00 per person (does not include conference registration)

    • NOTE: Participants may register for a JAN Academy workshop only or add this workshop to their USBLN conference registration.
    • CLOSING: The JAN Academy is a joint program of the USBLN and JAN as part of their Alliance activity.
  • Workplace: Hear other companies explain the success they have had in employing people with disabilities within their operations. These sessions will focus on making the business case for creating an inclusive workplace, recruiting for hard to fill jobs, addressing hidden biases, and changing the company culture. Gain insight and learn proven strategies for meeting 503 requirements around self-identification and becoming an employer of choice. Attend special sessions on accessible information and communications technology. Learn how to help others in your organization understand this business imperative through the creation and development of business-focused disability resource affinity groups and much more.
  • Marketplace: Learn key trends, strategies and dynamic practices on how to effectively market to consumers with disabilities, while also making marketing more accessible and tapping into a loyal consumer base. Find out about improvements to product development that supports enhanced customer experiences for the disability community and how to tap into a customer base with $220 billion in spendable, discretionary income.
  • Supply Chain and More: Learn how disability-owned businesses can enhance supplier diversity programs and diversity and inclusion efforts in public and private sectors. There is a strong business case for utilizing businesses owned, managed and controlled by entrepreneurs with disabilities, including firms owned by service-disabled veterans. The USBLN®'s Disability Supplier Diversity Program® (DSDP) will present a suite of workshops, taught by key corporate and government representatives that target business case rationale and strategies for the inclusion of certified disability-owned businesses. The conference presents a great opportunity to begin identifying and connecting with potential suppliers among the certified businesses in attendance. Owners of businesses classified as disability-owned will discover new ways that certification can benefit their businesses and gain knowledge about business development. Certified businesses, including those owned by service-disabled veterans, will learn about current trends in supply chain management and supplier selection criteria. Business to business networking and relationship-building opportunities will be plentiful. There is something for everyone!
  • NEW Professional Development Track: These important sessions will provide professionals with disabilities the opportunity to connect and learn from each other about the skills to be successful in their jobs, to confidently bring their whole selves to the workplace, and the ways in which to enhance their career progression.
